Paul Dervay 86, beloved husband of Anne Yacura Dervay entered into eternal life on Wednesday morning, December 2, 2009.
Paul cherished his family and blessed them with everlasting memories. He will forever be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic and sense of humor. He was a thirty-eight year employee of the I.B.M. Corporation, Endicott and was an Army veteran of WWII, serving with 35th Infantry Division. He was awarded a Bronze Star and named “Chevalier” of the French Legion of Honor for his service in France. Paul captivated us with memories of WWII and donated his written memoir to the Veteran’s History Project in Washington, DC.
Paul was a lifelong active member of St. Michael’s Greek Catholic Church where he spent thirty-seven years maintaining the Church Cemetery.
Paul is survived by his wife of sixty-two years; Anne (Yacura) Dervay, two daughters; Paula (Gerard) Doyle of McLean, VA and Nancy (Lawrence) Herb of Fairport, NY, a son; David (Iveta) Dervay of Vestal, two sisters; Helen Demetry and Rosemary (John) Pipta, a brother; Joseph (Mary) Dervay, grandchildren; Laura, Meredith and Philip Doyle and Larry, Kristina and John Herb, sisters-in-laws; Anne G. Dervay, Dorothy Dervay, Pauline Kreczko, and Helen Gresko and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; George and Mary Dervay Sr., two infant sons; Paul and Duane, brothers; Michael, John, George Jr. and William and sister; Anne Hodanick.

Funeral Information

A Divine Liturgy and funeral service will be celebrated by Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko on Saturday at 9:30am at St. Michael’s Greek Catholic Greek Catholic Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Rev. Dutko will conduct a prayer service 7pm Friday at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Prospect Street Binghamton. The family will receive friends Friday 3:30pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
