Romana Fritz of Binghamton

Romana Fritz, 81 passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at NYS Veterans Home in Oxford. Romana was born on July 7, 1927 in Bolzano, Italy, the daughter of the late Guiseppina Pallaura and Romano Bortolon. On February 5, 1946, she married Rudolph J. Fritz. He was a member of the U.S. Army stationed in Italy during WWII. Romana is survived by her son, Ronald Fritz; her daughter, Sheila Charnetsky and her husband Harry T. Charnetsky and Tibby. In Italy, she is survived by two sisters, Gloria Bortolon and Maria Pia Matuzzi, and by other relatives including Bruna, Barbara and Luciano Costa. Romana was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph J. Fritz, and two daughters, Gloria Ebersole and Valerie Fritz. In Italy, she was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Ivo.
Romana was a good cook who enjoyed decorating, shopping, and socializing, entertaining and visiting with friends.

Funeral Information

A funeral mass will be offered by Rev. Daniel Caruso at 10am on Wednesday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 282 Chenango Street, Binghamton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
