George Husar Jr. fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday morning, July 2, 2009. He was born in Corning, NY on June 6, 1916 to Anna and George Husar.
He was employed by Corning Glass Works and retired from the I.B.M Corporation, Endicott, also belonging to its Quarter Century Club.
A WWII veteran, he served in the US Army in Alaska and Aleutian Islands and was a member of the American Legion.
He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Michael and Frank and sisters MaryAnn and Suzanne.
Survivors include his nephews John and Michael, several cousins and numerous friends.
He was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Church, a devoted weekday cantor for many years, and was very active in parish life. He was ordained a Reader in the Orthodox Church at age 90. He was honored as an Archon of Ecumenical Patriarchate in America for his service and generosity to the Church. He was a long-standing Distinguished Diocesan Donor to Camp Nazareth and A.C.R.Y. member.
His ready smile and good cheer, dedication and hard work have left us a lasting impression of a fine Christian gentleman.

Funeral Information

A Divine Liturgy and Funeral Service will be celebrated by Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko on Tuesday 9am at St. Michael’s Greek Catholic Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Father Dutko will conduct a Parastas Monday evening 8pm at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton where the family will receive friends Monday 2-4 and 6-8pm.
